School Awards

Jessup Elementary got a new principal this last school year, and she's really made school fun. She implemented an awards assembly at the end of each quarter. The kids have really worked hard and learned a lot. Isaac made the silver honor roll for 4th grade, I'm so proud of him!! Isaac and the girls all received Math Magician awards for passing off all of their math requirements. All three kids also got an award for perfect attendance. The girls both were recognized as "Caring Kids" of their Kindergarten class. This is a special award, and only 2 kids from each class receive it. As their reward, they got to have cupcakes with the principal. I didn't go to the last assembly, so I don't have photos, but Isaac received the "Caring Kids" award in his 4th grade classroom. He also got on the silver honor roll again. I'm so happy with the school, the teachers and staff are top notch. Our kids have made great progress and love going to school. I hope I can keep them busy learning this summer so they'll be ready for 1st grade and 5th grade in the Fall.

Cheese Cracker Taste Test

In case you were wondering......here are the results from our Reeve Family and Friends Cheese Cracker taste test. Isn't it nice information to have for future grocery store trips? Wal-Mart's Great Value brand was the best cracker for the money, coming in second place, but costing nearly half of first place. We think it's pretty accurate since we had nearly 30 participants ranging in age. Any suggestions for our next taste test?

Challenge Rodeo

Isaac was nominated to participate in the Challenge Rodeo during Cheyenne Frontier Days. It's a chance for special needs kids to experience a rodeo firsthand. The whole family got to ride a bus to the rodeo grounds, which was exciting for the girls. Each child was assigned a buddy from the Air Force. Isaac's buddy was Stephen, he was so kind and made it a fun day. There were several rodeo events, and he even got to ride a horse and a goat. I was grateful for the caring people that volunteered and made it special for the kids. They each received a cowboy hat, a belt buckle, and a trophy. They had lunch for the kids and then gave them each an all day carnival pass, which made Isaac really happy.

Denver Zoo

My Mom, my sister Shella, my sister Angie, and her 5 girls came to visit over their spring break. We were so glad they came to visit, we had a great time with them. Once of our outings was the Denver Zoo. We spent a whole day there enjoying the weather and the animals. We were lucky enough to be there during the bug toss, which we thought sounded fun. It was in the jungle, which was full of exotic birds. We were each given a handful of live, wiggly, mill worms and told we could toss them at the birds. It was a feeding frenzy, mill worms everywhere, the birds couldn't even keep up. Most of us were done after the first time, but Savannah went back for handful after handful of the tickly little worms. I never get tired of seeing animals, they are so unique and amazing.

Budweiser Clydesdales

Savannah has a passion for horses, she has since she was a baby. When she was two, we were in Hurricane visiting Grandma and Grandpa Reeve, and we found her in a field with two massive horses. She was small enough to get through the fence, and wanted a closer look. She was as calm as can be, just admiring them. She loves to feed the horses when we visit both Grandparents houses. Savannah has about 30 stuffed animal horses and loves to read horse books. My friend Shelley thought Savannah would like to see the Clydesdale's at the Budweiser Factory in Colorado. We were in awe of the magnificent animals, they were enormous! Savannah memorized all of their names, and ended up buying a stuffed horse souvenir from the gift shop. It was a fun visit that Savannah will remember.

Gobble Wobble and Turkey Trot

The girls and I participated in a race to benefit the homeless shelter here in Cheyenne. The girls ran in the kids race, they may not have been the fastest, but they were definitely the cutest!! I ran my very first 5K. I've never been a jogger, but my friend Gina had an 8 week training program that we used. My time was 28 minutes, which landed me a 3rd place slot in my age category. It was so much fun-I think I'm hooked on running!

Apple Cupcakes

Isaac is a baker, he loves to make cupcakes, cakes, brownies, and cookies. He found these apple cupcakes in one of his cookbooks and was so excited to try them out.

I warned you I was behind and out of order on my posts!
I let the kids pick their costumes out of a magazine, and they were wearing them the whole month of October. The kids had a great Halloween, they had a party at school and a party at church. Any day you get a bag of candy is a good day!

Isaac's Science Fair Project

Isaac is in 4th grade and participated in his first science fair.  We wanted him to stay focused and help with the project, so we decided Jecca should be involved.  Isaac and Jecca are best buddies, she has been so good for Isaac. We tend to give Jecca lots of attention and lots of treats for being such a great pet.  Isaac's project was to purchase 3 treats, in a range of different costs and see which she preferred.  Our hypothesis was that she'd like the most expensive treat because it was made with better ingredients.  We kept data and fed her treats 3 times a day. We switched up the order of the treats, but we didn't fool her, she consistantly went for the expensive chicken jerky treat. It was a fun project, and Isaac was one of the finalists for his class. He didn't end up winning, but he came close. Good Job Isaac!

catch up time!

I've got to start somewhere, even if I'm out of order.  I'm going to play catch up and post several older photos.  Our kids are doing well, and we have so much to be grateful for.

My Birthday

Nick is such a sweetheart! He planned the best Birthday weekend. I love the Utah Jazz, and I've always wanted to go to an NBA game. Nick got tickets to the Denver Nuggets/Utah Jazz game for Feb. 4th. It was in Denver, which is a lot closer than Salt Lake City for us. We dropped the kids off @ school on Friday and drove to Denver. We had a babysitter come to greet the kids when they got home from school, and stay Friday night and Saturday with them. We stayed at the Monaco, a fancy hotel downtown. It was a great location, within walking distance of the Pepsi Center and many restaurants. It was a late game and didn't start until 8:30 p.m., so we had plenty of time to rest, read and relax. We walked to a nice Mexican restaurant and enjoyed a nice meal before walking to the Pepsi Center for the game. I was sporting my #8 Daron Williams Jersey-he is so good, and did not disappoint us. It was a very exciting game, and the Jazz won. It was awesome being there on the 11th row-seeing the players in real life they are huge!! We were completely surrounded by Nuggets fans, but it didn't stop me from cheering and getting into the game. Nick said I might have annoyed a few people. At half-time, they were having couples kiss on the Jumbo-tron, and Nick was really surprised when they showed us on the giant screen. We showed the audience our best kiss. What a great, exciting experience it was!
