Piano Recital

All 3 of the kids have been taking piano lessons, and are doing really well. They have an excellent teacher named Mrs. Stock. I hope they continue to play and don't complain as much as I did when my mom made me take piano. We didn't get a video of Isaac, he was very first, and it took us a minute to figure out the video function on the camera. He did so well, and played a challenging piece. He's been taking lessons for several years, and is getting better all the time. The girls are just beginners, but are really catching on fast. We're so proud of all of the kids.

Estes Park

While Darin and Leslie were here, we visited Estes Park. It's a beautiful mountain resort town in Colorado. Logan and Jack were on a mission to hit as many bike parks as possible, and there happened to be a nice one there. It was right next to a playground, so all of the kids were happy. Jack, Logan, and Darin gave us a good show with their stunts. Leslie and I found some great shopping downtown, we browsed several old fashioned candy stores, and loaded up on the goods. It was a fun little place, but it was so kind of cold. Next time we go, we'll plan on doing some hiking.

The Twins turn 6!

I didn't want the girls to get older, I love everything about them right now.  But sadly, they had to turn 6.  On their Birthday, I joined their Kindergarten class on a field trip(that's why they all have matching green shirts) all morning and into the afternoon.  Right after school, we had their birthday party at The Children's Village.  It's a cute little garden area with interactive activities for kids.  We decorated pots, potted flowers and played in the water.  Darin and Leslie's family came to visit, and got here just in time for the party.  They jumped right in to help with the party. The girls were so excited to have them and so many of their friends there.  My dear friend, Shelley was so helpful with the decorations and the clean-up. The girls have wonderful, well behaved friends, which made their party great.   

Kindergarten Music Program

Sophia and Savannah's Kindergarten class put on a Garden Program for the parents. It was darling! I couldn't stop laughing, Nick leaned over and whispered, "I don't think it's supposed to be a comedy." Kindergartners are just the cutest thing ever, they make me happy, and I just can't help smiling and laughing.

On a roll!

Once I get going, I'm on fire! I haven't blogged for 6 months, and today I've published 16 new posts. Now I'm only about a month behind-not too bad! Hopefully I can keep up the momentum.

A lesson learned

Nick was out of town on a fishing trip, so I took the kids to the mall for dinner and browsing. We love to go to Chick-fil-a, the pet store, and the candy store, it's a ritual that we enjoy often. This time at the pet store, I had a very weak moment and fell in love with a puppy. I picked her up and she was so soft and snugly. Her sad eyes were so adorable! Totally on impulse, I bought the sweet thing! We named her Ginger Snap, because she'd reddish brown. We got her home and she peed on the carpet multiple times. Jecca was unhappy and continually growled at the new pet. I'm used to sleeping through the night, but the puppy started whining around 2 a.m. I knew I'd made a big mistake! I told Nick about the dog when he called, and he reiterated that I'd made a mistake. Sophia was convinced that when Daddy saw the dogs face, he'd let us keep her. She's super sweet and let the kids carry her all over the house. She didn't bark at all, and she actually got better about potty training too. I think we almost convinced Nick to keep her, but I think we all knew it wasn't a good idea. My friend Anna was looking for a dog, so I asked if she'd give her a good home. Her kids instantly fell in love with her and they took her home and named her Maggie. We still get to see her, and we even babysat her overnight a few nights ago. Every one's happy with the new arrangement. Nick said I'm no longer allowed to go to Pet Stores.

4th Grade Violin Concert

Isaac has been playing the violin at school, it's amazing what 4th graders can do! The music was actually really great-I was bracing for screeching, but it was nice. Isaac is such a handsome and talented boy!

Happy Cinco De Mayo

The girls wanted to wear their dresses we got in Mexico. They had a little Nacho party in their class. A few days after Cinco De Mayo, I had Bunko at my house, so I went with the Mexican theme. I served Mexican food, and gave away gift cards to local Mexican Restaurants for prizes. We have the best group of ladies and it's fun to get together once a month.

Easter

We celebrated Easter early at Grandpa and Grandma's house in Hurricane. The Easter bunny filled and hid a whole garbage bag full of eggs. Good thing they have a nice, big yard. Grandma made dozens of chick cupcakes for the kids to enjoy, and there were even real chicks at the party. It's always fun for the kids to play with their cousins, and Grandma and Grandpa are always so kind to host. Whe had a great Easter Sunday too, the Easter Bunny was so nice and generous. There was one Easter Egg that kept appearing. It was hanging on the front door, and each time Isaac found it and took it down, another one would be hanging within a few minutes. Our neighbor invited us to their house for another Easter Egg hunt with their kids. I think we have enough candy to last us a few months. In between all the fun, we went to church, which was good to remember why we celebrate Easter.

Queen Jecca

Sophia and Savannah were playing dress-up with Jecca, they pronounced her "Queen Jecca". Every time they addressed her, it was "Your Majesty". The girls often play dress-up with her, and she's such a good sport. I remember when I was their age, I used to dress-up my kittens and take them for walks in the stroller. Girls will be girls!

Cozy Cow Dairy Farm

I joined the girls on their Kindergarten field trip to the dairy. It was quite informative and entertaining. I learned that cheese isn't naturally orange, so the cheese we ate at the dairy was all white. We got to see cows hooked up to milking machines. It was amazing to see 4 gallons of milk produced in only 5 minutes. They treated us to milk, cheese and ice cream, it was all so fresh and delicious. I bought a gallon of milk and some butter to enjoy at home. We also got to pet a one week old goat, a calf and some bunnies. It was a fun field trip with my girls.
