Race Car Cake

Nick took Isaac and Savannah (I was home with Sophia who was sick)to a ward spaghetti dinner and auction. Isaac walked in the door and immediately told me he wanted a race car cake like the one he saw at the church. He even drew me a picture of what the cake looked like. I asked Nick why he didn't buy the cake and he said it went for $50.00, and Nick had already donated quite a large amount of money and didn't feel like the cake was a great purchase. Isaac was persistant and kept reminding me that he really did want his own race car cake. As if I hadn't subjected myself to enough cake making (may I remind you about the barbie cakes), I decided to make his wish come true and make him a cake. I used his drawing and his ideas and this is what we came up with. It was very simple, it only took about 10 minutes to frost and decorate. Isaac was happy with the finished product, and in the picture of Savannah, you can see she liked it too.

Vedauwoo

Our family spent an afternoon in Vedauwoo, it was so pleasant, and the scenery was spectacular. It's nice to be just a short drive to such an amazing place. We enjoyed a nice little picnic as a family and just took time to take in the beautiful creations we're blessed with.

A visit from Nick's brother

When Ben, B'Andra and Gidian came to visit we went to dinner, walked around the Capitol Building, found some tame squirrels to feed while strolling through the park, and of course, celebrated the twin's Birthday. It was so nice to have company, Thanks for coming and spending some time with us. We would welcome any other visitors!

The girls turn 3 !

I can't believe our little princesses are 3 years old already! I can't call them the babies anymore. They are so cute and so much fun. Uncle Ben and Aunt B'Andra decided to come visit, we are so glad they did. It was fun to have Gidian here to help celebrate their birthday. B'Andra and I made not just one Barbie cake, but 4! This was a chore, and we worked well into the night. I asked Sophia if she thought the cakes were beautiful, she replied, "Yes, are they bells?" B'Andra and I can tell you it's not as easy as it seems to make a barbie cake, but if you stood back far enough, they looked pretty nice. I have to say Thanks to my Mom and Chani for cake making advice and suggestions. The girls enjoyed the cakes and the presents, at least for the most part. (Savannah was crying when I made her wear her itchy princess dress) Happy Birthday Sophia and Savannah, We love you!

One of those days!

Yesterday the weather was bad(tornado watch)and we were forced to stay inside all day. Sophia was in a destructive mood, and she totally wore me out! Just to mention a few things, orange juice was spilled downstairs on the carpet, so I was cleaning it up(orange juice doesn't come out easily), I had just finished this task when I came upstairs to see Sophia drawing all over the walls. I put her to work trying to clean it up with a magic eraser, but to no avail. We ended up having to repaint the walls, which worked out alright, because there was another spot she had written on the walls previously that I'd been meaning to paint over. I asked her why she drew on the walls, she said, "It would be beautiful." I told her next time she wanted to express her creative abilities to find a piece of paper! So I have a paintbrush in my hand and Isaac yells from the bathroom that he needs some help. I rush to the bathroom to find the toilet overflowing. Last time this happened (only about 2 weeks ago) he informed me that the babies had put 22 wipes in the toilet. I didn't want to know what had made its way in the toilet, or how many, I just grabbed the plunger and went to work on it. Not 10 minutes later I came upon a box of chicken in a biscuit crackers spilled and smashed on the carpet. I picked up the big chunks and fetched the vacuum to get all the crumbs before the grease could soak into the carpet. After that chore, I went to my room and found my cutie Sophia playing hide and seek in my bed (that was made with care eariler, making sure I got all of the wrinkles and puckers out). This is not an account of a full day- oh no, this was only about a 2 hour highlight of my day. I was so glad to climb into my bed(made or not) at 10:00, after the children were finally tucked into their beds for the night. I am so blessed to be a stay at home mother, and would not change it for anything! I love my children unconditionally and eternally! We have to have the hard days so we can appreciate the wonderful, happy days.

Isaac's Ladybugs Book project
I helped my Mom make really good Ladybugs with Red and Black Clay I didn,t make a really good Ladybugs. we didn,t take a picture of Isaac with his Ladybugs Book project.(Just a sidenote; We hadn't taken a picture yet when he wrote this) Isaac is a GREAT Student at school. We Learned so much about the Ladybugs. My Mom found the Rocks at outside when it was Dark.My Mom made 2 tiny Ladybugs and 8 Aphids. I went to MichAles to Buy Red and Black clay to make our Ladybugs. My Mom used the glue gun to glue the leaves on it. WE GOT a big white box.

(I thought it would be fun to have Isaac write about it, he did a good job! The paper on the back of the box that tells the facts about ladybugs was made 100% by him, we didn't help him at all. He is amazing on the computer! He is a smart kid with a will to learn)

The Green River

A nice trip to the Green River. We reserved a two man pontoon, but when we arrived they gave it away, so they let us use these one man pontoons. They were pretty fun on the rapids, it really got my heart racing.
There were too many people on the upper river, so we drove down to Brown's Park and each caught a nice fish. It's a remote area where outlaws use to hide-out, including the Wild Bunch.

A Lovely Spring Day

We enjoyed a beautiful, sunny day at the park basking in the warmth of the sun. We walked to our neighborhood park with some friends and played for several hours. Later that evening, we had a picnic dinner on the deck in the backyard. Isaac said, "I love this Fresh Winter picnic." We spent as much time outdoors as possible, and enjoyed being together.

April Showers (Snow and Hail Showers that is!)

I have Spring Fever!! The weather here in Wyoming has not been beautiful and sunny. I took this picture yesterday(4-12) in the Wal-Mart parking lot. In the time it took me to buckle the two girls in their carseats a large amount of snow and hail blew in the van. It's supposed to be 70 degrees tomorrow, if so, we're going on a walk to soak in the heat wave.

Girls

I love my girls! I love to play dress-up, paint fingernails, go to lunch and go shopping together. I have fond memories of my Mother doing the same things with me growing up. When Nick gets mad at me for wanting to shop all of the time, I can't help but blame my wonderful Mother for teaching me to love it and need it. I know my girls are going to be pleading the same case to their husbands when they're older. I remember painting our fingernails often as a young girl, I can still hear my Mother's only request, "Stay at the kitchen table!" She probably had visions of us spilling hot pink nail polish on the carpet. My Sophia wants to have pretty pink fingernails like a barbie, it's so fun to make her smile by just giving her 5 minutes of my undivided attention and making her feel beautiful. I hope my girls will love spending memorable time with me as much as I did, and still do with my Mother.

Isaac's book project

Isaac has an assignment to do a book project once a week, he chose to do this weeks project on a Stegosaurus book. He did a great job creating this diorama, and we all learned a lot about the Stegosaurus. Isaac is a great student, and is doing really well at school.

Sophia is scissor happy!

It's inevitable, I was just hoping it wouldn't happen twice in one month. Sophia and Savannah were playing in our closet, I thought it was so cute that they were playing nicely and giggling together. I went to check on them after a few minutes to find chunks of light brown hair lining the carpet. Sophia was hiding behind my clothes, she knew she was in deep trouble. I said "Give me the scissors." Her little hand came slowly out from the rack of clothing, and she handed over the scissors. I accessed the situation, and it really could have been worse, Sophia had just cut Savannah some bangs. I took her to my friend Ruth for a professional fix job, and Savannah was none for the worse. Sophia had clipped a little bit of her bangs, so she got a little trim too. They were both very good during the haircut. If that would have been the end of it that would have been a minor set back, but Sophia had other plans, I left the girls unattended for 2 minutes, I found them in my scrapbook room. Sophia had a large pair of scissors, and Savannah was just sitting there being a really good sport while Sophia whacked off about 4 inches of her beautiful hair. This time the situation was not so easily fixed. My friend Ruth again came to our rescue, but now Savannah has a short bob haircut. I asked Sophia why she cut her sisters hair, and she said, "I want Dana to have short hair like mine." She has since promised never to cut Savannah's hair again.

We took a family vacation to Breckenridge, Colorado last month, we had an enjoyable, memorable time. We took I 80, it was icy and there was low visability, it added a few hours longer to our drive, but when we got there we heard that I 80 had been closed, so we were grateful to have gotten there safely. Isaac went to Ski School and learned to ski for the first time, he did really well, and we were proud of him for sticking with it and finishing the long day. Nick was pretty patient as he tried to teach me to ski (this was only my second time ever). I scared him a few times when I whizzed down the slopes at full speed, but not full control! Sophia and Savannah spent the day in a day care there on the resort. The day care is called "Belly Button Bakery" they baked chocolate chip cookies and played patty cake. Sophia was good, but Savannah gave them a harder time. It was so nice to relax and spend some alone time with Nick. I think I could really get into skiing, it was a great day. We rented a cabin for the long weekend, it was set high up in the beautiful snow covered mountains. The van only got stuck in the snow once! It was a great place to get away and enjoy time with the family. We sat out in the hot tub every night, it was so peaceful to have snow falling all around us, and enjoying it in warmth. Nick and Isaac went sledding, the girls stayed behind to avoid the 50 mile an hour winds. They had fun, but had to stay bundled up to keep warm. Sophia has asked several times since we've been home to go back to the cabin. It's nice to enjoy nature and all of the beautiful creations we're blessed with.
